Arsenal could accelerate their plans to sign a top-tier striker, with RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko reportedly under consideration by manager Mikel Arteta.
The Gunners are grappling with a mounting injury crisis, including the absence of Gabriel Jesus, sidelined for over three months due to a serious knee injury, and Bukayo Saka, whose injury has further dampened their Premier League title aspirations.
According to The Sun, Arsenal are deliberating whether to make a £70 million move for the highly-rated Sesko in January or opt for a short-term loan signing to bolster their attacking options.
Addressing the team’s predicament, Arteta acknowledged the urgent need for reinforcements.
“We have more necessity now because of what happened in the last few weeks,” he stated.
“We never just plan a window. We have a plan, we look at the squad, how we are going to evolve it, what we have in the academy, and how we are going to change and adapt. Either we are really bad at planning or nobody could see we would have that many injuries. We have lost two massive players in the front line, and we need some support there.”
Sesko, who has been in fine form for RB Leipzig, could provide the firepower Arsenal desperately need as they aim to remain competitive in the title race.
