Access Bank Lagos City Marathon to celebrate 10 years of excellence in road racing

Organisers of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon have pledged to make the 10th anniversary of the event a remarkable celebration of athleticism, unity, and global excellence when it kicks off on February 15, 2025.

Since its inception, the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon has left an indelible mark on the world of road racing, growing exponentially to become one of the fastest-growing marathons globally. Its stellar reputation and meticulous organisation have cemented its status as a premier event in the international road race calendar.

Nilayo Sports Management, the driving force behind the marathon, has assured participants and spectators of a friendlier and more hospitable experience in the 10th edition, which aims to make a benchmark for road race events worldwide.

“As the world celebrates a decade of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, it is evident that this race transcends being just a sporting event,” remarked Mrs Yetunde Olopade, Chief Executive Officer of Nilayo Sports Management.

“It is a movement that promotes health, fosters international camaraderie, and positions Lagos as a city to watch on the global athletics map,” she added.

This year’s edition is expected to attract over 4,000 foreign runners and 100 elite athletes across different countries.

Renowned for its substantial prize money, the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon has become a beacon of opportunity and competition, drawing elite runners and enthusiasts from across the globe.

Athletes from long-distance powerhouses such as Kenya and Ethiopia, alongside participants from France and other nations, converge on Lagos to compete on its vibrant streets.

According to Nilayo Sports Management, the marathon, which began in 2016, will continue to inspire participation, foster unity, and promote Lagos as a global sporting hub.
