As part of activities to commemorate World Oral Health Day 2013, Procter and Gamble (P&G), leading player in fast moving consumer goods, on Wednesday hosted Nigerian children to an event in Lagos. Celebrated every year on 20 March, this year’s theme, ‘Healthy Teeth for Healthy Life,’ reflects the major contribution oral health makes to our lives.

In her address during the event, Mokutima Ajileye, the brand operations integration leader, Procter and Gamble Nigeria, said P&G is committed to providing oral health education for Nigerians, adding that oral health is at the core of the organisation’s brand purpose. ‘‘At Procter and Gamble, our aim is to touch and improve the lives of consumers with all our products. Oral-B furthers this goal by raising awareness about oral hygiene, giving education on the importance of good oral practices and disease prevention,’’ she said. Procter and Gamble launched its Oral-B Pro-Health toothpaste into the Nigerian market in 2011.

BusinessDay findings show that the toothpaste is the product of over 15 years of research and development, enabling it to deliver unmatched benefits to users.

Also speaking at the event, Sidney Esiri, celebrity artist and dentist, urged children to take their oral hygiene seriously. Esiri said, ‘‘You have to learn good oral hygiene habits early so that you can protect your teeth,’’ commending Procter and Gamble for educating Nigerians about oral hygiene through their Oral-B brand.

Procter and Gamble which serves approximately 4.6 billion people around the world with its brands, is a key stakeholder on oral care worldwide with the company committing funds to research and development annually in order to produce world class products that meet the needs and budgets of her consumers.
