PDP calls for investigation over alleged snake invasion of Ondo Assembly Complex

Akeredolu
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo state has called for a thorough investigation into the reported snake invasion of the state House of Assembly.
It will be recalled that lawmakers had last week adjourned sine die over the invasion of the assembly complex by snake during plenary.
The honourable members subsequently called on the executive arm to provide fund in renovating the assembly complex.
However, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu at the weekend accused the lawmakers of blackmailing his government, saying there was no snake that fell from the ceiling during plenary.
Zadok Akintoye, the Director of Media and Publicity of the party in a statement on Monday accused the executive and the legislative arms of not working together for the good people of the state.
The Opposition party described the leadership of the 9th assembly as a rubber stamp allegedly imposed by the executive arm to cover their recklessness.
The Statement read: ” Our great party, the PDP notes the recent unfortunate incident that occurred at the Ondo State House of Assembly, where members allegedly fled the hallowed chambers due to the presence of a snake within the legislative hall. This event calls for deep concern from all citizens.
” And now that such an issue has become a subject of unfortunate accusation and counter-accusation from the people whose heads carry the mandate of the masses, with an arm of government name tagging the other arm as blackmailers, we hope the matter will get the required investigative attention and that records be set straight, as a show of respect for the mandate the good people of Ondo State have bestowed  upon their representatives.
” It is on record that the Rt. Hon. Oloyeloogun-led APC dominated House of Assembly has not lived up to its responsibilities as an independent arm of government.
” While not giving credence to the nametag of blackmail as expressed by the executive, the present state of decay and infrastructure neglect at the Assembly, shows poor management of the synergy expected of two independent arms of government that should be working together for the good of our people.
” The unconnected lines of the note purportedly issued by the State’s Commissioner of Information (who one will expect to know better and give information as required of a mouthpiece of a sitting government) insinuating a third hand in their unforced errors, is a further testament of the unfortunate situation where governance has been reduced to buck passing and looking for enemies where there are none.
” We advise these people to tidy their homefront, live above pettiness and deliver nothing other than good governance for the purpose of making Ondo state better.
” The citizens are not unaware of the fact that the APC led House of Assembly leadership was foisted to serve as a rubber stamp to Executive recklessness, we however are concerned as citizens of this great state, and our concern is that this legislature may not serve the best interest of the people considering its perceived submission of its independence to the whims and caprices of the Executive arm of government.
” We further note with great worries that the tenure of this present Assembly may end up being with little or no benefit or impact on the life of the people as it has continued to portray itself as installed to serve the interest of its paymaster.
” Our party, therefore, uses this opportunity to advice the Honorable members to rise up in defence of the people’s mandate given to them and to save the legislative arm of government from ridicule.”
