Convention set to take off, as Buhari, Osinbajo, Lawan arrive venue

APC Presidential candidate: Delegates may vote along tribal lines

indications have emerged that delegates may resort to voting along ethnic cleavages

The All Progressive Congress( APC) Presidential election is now set to take off any moment following the arrival of President Muhammadu Buhari, at the Eagles Square venue of the convention.

Earlier, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo had arrived the venue, shortly after the arrival of Senate President Ahmad Lawan.

BusinessDay checks reveal that the party may have finally settled for election to determine the choice of the party’s 2023 presidential flag bearer, following the collapse of the initial plans to achieve a consensus candidate.

The President arrived at exactly 7.43 Pm, far behind initial scheduled time of arrival which was originally slated 3.15pm.

On their arrival, Vice President Osinbajo and Senate President Ahmad Lawan went round the stands at the Eagles Square to greet the delegates.

BusinessDay checks also revealed that the recourse to use of election to determine the APC candidate, is consistent with the President’s earlier directives that only the delegates will determine the choice of their presidential flag bearer.
