Amos Magaji, the lawmaker representing Zangon Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency in Kaduna State has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC)from the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).
Abbas Tajudeen, speaker of the House of Representatives announced the defection after reading resignation letter from the lawmaker during Plenary on Tuesday.

According to the letter, Magaji explained that he is leaving the PDP due to unresolved crisis in the party at the National and state levels. The lawmaker said the crisis has persisted despite efforts to resolve it, making it impossible and unhealthy to remain a member.
In December 2024, five lawmakers in the House defected to APC- four from the Labour Party and one from the PDP.
The lawmakers from the LP are Chinedu Okere (Owerri municipal/owerri north/Owerri west constituency), Mathew Donatus (Kaura federal constituency of Kaduna), Akiba Bassey (Calabar municipal/Odukpani constituency), and Esosa Iyawe (Oredo federal constituency of Edo); while Erithiatake Ibori-Suenu, daughter of a former Governor of Delta State, Chief James Ibori defected from PDP.
