The solution to the perennial problem of deplorable roads in Nigeria is coming, as the House of Representatives is set to pass the National Roads Fund and Federal Roads Authority bills at today’s (Thursday) sitting.
At the plenary, the House will debate and pass for third reading, a Bill for an Act to Establish the National Roads Fund, for the Purpose of Financing Routine and Periodic Maintenance of National Roads and for Related Matters.

The Green Chamber will also consider and pass for third reading, a Bill for an Act to Repeal the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (Establishment, etc.) Act 2002 (as amended), the Federal Highways Act, 1971 and the Control of Advertisement Federal Highways Act, 1986.
It will therefore enact the Federal Roads Bill for the Establishment of Federal Roads Authority, which is the framework for Private Sector Participation in road rehabilitation and maintenance.
