Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has on Tuesday set up an N200 million fund target at individuals and families of those who have ever fallen victim to the disbanded rogue police unit Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS). The fund will serve as compensation for the victim’s families.
The governor also directed that all the names of the victims be sent to the Lagos State government and assured of justice and adequate compensation.
The governor was speaking to protesters who blocked the government office at Alausa, Ikeja. The protesters also brought the governor’s attention to the demand for the increase in salary of officers of the police force.
“We’re not here for that,” Prince Omojuwa, one of the protesters said refering to the N200 million fund. “That is not what we’re here to protest for. We want justice. We want change.”
