In a significant shake-up within the Nigeria Police Force, 40 senior officers, including 14 Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) and 26 Commissioners of Police, have been strategically redeployed to take charge of various Commands and formations across the nation.
Among the notable changes is the reassignment of CP Olatunji Disu, formerly the Principal Staff Officer to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, and the former Commander of the Rapid Response Squad in Lagos. CP Disu is now entrusted with leading the Rivers State Police Command.
The Police High Command, as communicated in a statement by its Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has justified this extensive posting and redeployment as a crucial step toward fostering a professionally competent, service-driven, rule-of-law-compliant, and people-friendly Police Force.

This decision aligns with the recent elevation of senior officers to their next ranks.
The reshuffling also includes AIGs such as Ogundele Joshua Ayodeji (Zone 7 Abuja), Patrick Edung (Zone 11 Osogbo), Badru Lawal (Border Patrol Force headquarters), Bartholomew Onyeka (Zone 8 Lokoja), Suleiman Yusuf (DOPS FHQ), Idowu Owohunwa (Force Criminal Investigation Department, FCID Annex Alagbon, Lagos), Rhoda Adetutu Olofu (Maritime Lagos), Godwin N. Aghaulor (Zone 13 Ukpo Dunukofia Awka), and Effiom Emmanuel Ekot (ONSA Abuja), among others.
Furthermore, 26 newly appointed or redeployed Commissioners of Police include George Chijioke (Benue State), Ahmed Abdullahi Tijani (Jigawa State Police Command), Dan Shawulu (Niger State Police Command), Usman Hayatu (Gombe State Police Command), Danjuma Aboki (Imo State Police Command), and Joseph Eribo (Taraba State), among others.
IGP Egbetokun, in his address to the officers, urged them to align with the Force’s policies, actively support the government’s agenda for economic recovery and growth, and contribute to the socio-political development of the country.
The immediate implementation of these redeployments underscores the urgency and commitment to the newly devised strategic alignments within the Nigeria Police Force.
