Alex Otti, Governor of Abia State, in a bid to boost electricity supply across communities in the State, has commenced the distribution of 53 transformers procured by his Administration in the State.
Governor Otti handing over the power tranformers to benefitting communities in the first phase, said that distribution of the transformers was part of his social contract with the people of the State.
The governor, who was represented by Ikechukwu Monday, Commissioner for Power and Public Utilities, recalled that Government had earlier announced in December 2024 that it procured 53 transformers, adding that it behoved on him to promote and provide reliable electricity supply to communities in the State.

He said that all the 53 transformers would be given to the beneficiaries within the week. “This is the first batch of transformers that will be procured and supplied to communities in the State.
“So today we will be handing over to 11 communities and the entire week we will distribute the remaining transformers to the benefitting communities. This is to boost electricity supply to our communities in the state. This is part of that gesture that would help us achieve that goal.”
