Dapo Okubadejo, Ogun State Commissioner for Finance and Chief Economic Adviser, has said that the State Government has started making arrangements to automate transactions being made in all the Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Government.
The move becomes imperative following the successes recorded with the implementation of billing and payment management system, digitisation of land acquisition, automated payment processes, treasury single account, among other payment platforms.
Okubadejo noted that various financial reforms have been implemented to attract investors, block leakages and fast-track business processes in the State, such as the Billing and Payment Management System (BPMS), digitisation of land acquisition, automated payment processes, Treasury Single Account (TSA), among others.
Speaking during a revenue meeting held with payment service providers in Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital, noted that the financial reforms being implemented had been able to attract investors, block leakages and fast-track business processes in the State.
He added that the pilot agencies where all the initiatives were activated, namely, the Bureau of Lands and Survey, Internal Revenue Service and Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, had recorded immense success in different perspectives, saying Government would make extend the payment platforms and system to all the Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Government soon.
Okubadejo stated that to further promote transparency and seamless services, more Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) would be included in the payment platforms, including Ministries of Environment, Industry, Trade and Investment, Health, Transportation, Agriculture, among others.
He emphasised the active role of the civil and public servants to achieving the feat, saying the success in the usage of all identified payment platforms “rests heavily on ensuring that civil servants play an integral part of the initiatives, as they are the ones who will ensure its sustainability.”
Responding on behalf of the other Payment Service Providers, Lukman Buari, CEO of ICMA, applauded the State Government for creating a level-playing field for service providers and acknowledged the contributions of workers to the successes achieved in implementing the initiatives thus far, pledging continued optimal delivery of their targets.
