The National Population Commission (NPC) has disowned a “fraudulent website” falsely advertising recruitment for the 2025 Population and Housing Census.
In a statement issued by the commission’s Director of Public Affairs, Taibat Oloruntoba, on Thursday, the NPC clarified that no recruitment process is currently underway, as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has yet to announce a date for the next census.
“The attention of the commission was drawn to a fake website created by some mischief makers concerning the purported recruitment for the 2025 Population and Housing Census to defraud unsuspecting citizens,” the statement read.

The NPC urged Nigerians to disregard the false recruitment claims and warned against falling victim to scammers.
It assured the public that any legitimate hiring process would be announced through national media, the commission’s official website, and verified social media platforms.
Additionally, the commission stated that efforts are underway to identify those behind the fraudulent website. Nigerians were advised to rely only on official NPC channels for accurate updates on the country’s first biometric Population and Housing Census.
