Event and party management in Nigeria is reaching new heights, as the Association of Professional Party Organisers and Event Managers of Nigeria (APPOEMN) and Lagos Business School (LBS), on Tuesday, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to redefine and set standards of in the industry.
With the MoU sealed, the LBS is set to launch Event Mastering Programme for APPOEMN members to drive standardisation and elevate the practice of event management in the country.
Uchenna Uzo, a professor at LBS, said at the MoU signing event in Ikeja, that the event mastering module would commence on September 23, 2024.
He noted that the capacity development programme would further raise the standard of practice in the event management industry, which is said to be currently generating about N1billion, but has the potential for nearly N1trn annually.
“We think that the LBS can partner with APPOEMN to further grow this thriving sector by setting standards”, the professor said.

Speaking also, Olufunbi Akinyosoye, president of APPOEMN, who is excited about the development, said it would usher in a new era in the industry.
“Today, we stand on the cusp of a new era in the event management industry—a moment that signifies a bold step towards redefining our standards and enhancing our capabilities.
This MOU represents more than just a formal agreement; it embodies our shared vision and collective commitment to fostering excellence, innovation, and professionalism within the event management sector”, said Akinyosoye.
She said the Event Mastering Programme aligned with APPOMEOMN’s goal to elevate the practice of event management in Nigeria.
