businessday-icon

There are strong indications that the nationwide strike declared by the Organised labour which commences tomorrow, Tuesday, 6th November, 2018 may stall the resumption of National Assembly.

The lawmakers who embarked on two weeks recess on Wednesday, 24th October, 2018 are scheduled to resume for plenary session tomorrow.

The notice of strike action was contained in an internal memo titled: titled: ‘Re: Directive to mobilize and embark on nationwide strike action commencing Tuesday, 6th November, 2018’, issued and signed by Suleiman Haruna, Secretary of Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN).

The memo read: “PASAN as an affiliate member of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) directed all its members to join and fully participate in the strike action as scheduled.

“In view of the above directive, all members are hereby directed to fully participate with maximum compliance and total shutdown of service in their respective duties.”

Meanwhile, the conciliatory meeting on the controversial new minimum wage is ongoing between Federal and State Governments, Organised Private Sector and Organised Labour at the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (oSGF) in Abuja.
