A violent attack in a small Nigerian community has left 10 people dead. The police in Ebonyi state say gunmen attacked the Amegu Nkalaha community in Ishielu early Sunday morning.
People think the attack might have been revenge by cattle herders whose cows were killed earlier. The attackers burned down several houses in the community and hurt many residents.
According to The Cable, Joshua Ukandu, who speaks for the Ebonyi police, said that they found 10 bodies after the attack. He noted that the attackers seemed to choose specific houses to burn down.

“Presently, the area is calm; we got information that the community was attacked, and immediately police operatives went to the location,” Ukandu said.
“Upon arrival, we saw that houses were burnt selectively. We also recovered 10 corpses from that area. At the moment our personnel are there, and normalcy is returning to the area.”
“I cannot confirm the cause of the attack. But we are currently investigating to ascertain the cause of the attack.”
