FCCPC, NANTA partner to protect Nigerian travelers

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA) to uphold consumer rights, ensure fair practices, and promote ethical standards among travel agencies nationwide.

The partnership was led by Tunji Bello, Executive Vice Chairman and CEO, FCCPC, The commission disclosed on its X handle.

The MoU sets out a framework for a joint mechanism aimed at efficiently managing consumer complaints related to travel services.

According to the FCCPC, The collaboration will not only streamline complaint resolution processes but also focus on educating consumers about their rights and responsibilities, as well as outlining the obligations that travel agencies owe to their clients.

Through this partnership, NANTA will be encouraged to develop and enforce high standards of practice within the industry, emphasizing ethical and professional conduct among its members.

Bello highlighted that the FCCPC’s collaboration with NANTA reflects the Commission’s commitment to safeguarding consumers and promoting a fair and competitive market.

He added that by combining resources and expertise, the FCCPC and NANTA aim to establish a more transparent, accountable, and consumer-focused travel services sector in Nigeria, creating a safer environment for consumers and fostering trust in travel agencies.
