Edo Varsity launches mandatory one year industrial training

The management of Edo State University, Uzairue, has launched a mandatory one-year industrial training for students in the departments of Chemical and Mechanical Engineering, with a special focus on acquiring technical skills in the conversion of fuel vehicles to gas.

Acting Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Dawood O. Egbefo who disclosed this during the flag-off of the initiative, said the move was geared to reduce the burden of fuel costs, increase access to affordable transportation, job creation and economic growth.

Prof. Egbefo also stated that it would reduce carbon emissions, alleviate poverty, which according to him, aligns with the vision of the visitor to the University and Edo State governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki.

He noted that the development was in partnership with the  Nigerian Independent Petroleum Company (NIPCO), the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas and the Edo State Ministry of Mining and Energy.

The VC stressed: “We are confident that this strategic partnership will yield lasting benefits for our communities, and the nation, and pave the way for a more sustainable future.

“The initiative demonstrates the university’s commitment to innovation, social responsibility, and collaboration with government and industry partners.

“This and many more innovations we offer are why Edo University is the best destination for students striving for academic excellence.

“We don’t go on strike. The university is open to everyone for academic pursuit.  Our needs and expectations are met before we request,” he added.
