Benue gets recognition as fastest growing IGR state

Benue state today through the Benue State Internal Revenue Service (BIRS), received recognition as one of the fastest-growing Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) states in the federation.

The recognition which came in form of an award which was presented by the publisher of REVENUE magazine, which is the official magazine of the Nigerian states IGR summit, Fredrick Apeji, was based on statistics from the National Bureau of Statistics which showed that the state had risen to the fourth-fastest revenue growing state.

Presenting the Award, Apeji stressed that the essence of the award was to further encourage the effort of the state in generating Revenue while acknowledging the meteoric rise in the states’ performance since the advent of Ayabam.

He further described the state performance as exemplary and prospective in its performance even as he stated that the award is intended to spur other states into performance.

Receiving the award at the corporate headquarters of BIRS, the Executive Chairman, Andrew Ayabam dedicated the award to the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, whom he said is responsible for the success recorded at BIRS.

Ayabam while acknowledging the Governor’s support, praised him for allowing him to contribute to the government’s aspirations concerning IGR even as he noted that he is impressed with the level of support given to him and his administration. He expressed his profound happiness to be working with the Governor.
