The South West Security Network (SWSN), otherwise known as Amotekun Corps, Ondo State command has assured corps members serving in the state of their safety following the crisis in Ikare-Akoko, saying it (crisis) has been checkmated and handled professionally.
The state Amotekun Corps commander, Adetunji Adeleye gave the assurance on Wednesday while parading 31 suspects arrested for different cases at the command’s headquarters in Akure, the state capital.
He disclosed that security agencies met and adopted a professional way to quell the crisis to guarantee free movement and also ascertain, that activities in the town are not disrupted.
He assured that the recent crisis that broke out in Ikare-Akoko, the host community of the NYSC orientation camp, has been curtailed and security has been beefed up in the town.
Adeleye, who is the special adviser to the Ondo State governor on security matters, assured the corps members that security agencies are fully on the ground to guarantee their safety.
According to him, during joint patrols for Easter and Salah holidays, 45 suspects were apprehended by the patrol teams for criminal cases including rape, illegal possession of firearms, ritual, arson, stealing among others, out of which 31 have been profiled and would be arraigned to Court soon.

Among the suspects paraded was a syndicate that specialises in stealing native goats in hundreds and selling them to unsuspected buyers.
Speaking on the three persons kidnapped along Igoba/Iju road, the Amotekun Corps chief disclosed that two among them had been resolved while the remaining one was at the advanced stage of rescue.
“We deployed over 1,000 Amotekun Corps to complement the efforts of the mother security agencies which included; the Army, police, the NSCDC and the DSS with a view towards ensuring that the state is crime-free.
“The security situation of the state now, is that which anyone can come and transact business without fear of molestation.
“As a result of a very large turnout of arrested criminals being prosecuted by officers and legal officers of the state Director of Public Prosecution in conjunction with officers of Amotekun Corps, the government had to build a separate court to assist the Judiciary in the quick dispensation of justice.
“As we talk, 100 of such criminals have been treated according to the law of the land in the various Courts in the state,” Adeleye stated.
He also disclosed, that the state has experienced a sudden influx of illegal herdsmen into the state through border communities in Edo and Kogi states over 900 including their cattle.
“They came in trucks with loads which they refused the joint security patrol team to search.
“Only herdsmen who registered with the state government would be allowed in the state, warning the illegal ones to stay away or face the full wrath of the law,” he warned.
While assuring people of the state of security of their lives and property, he urged them to report any suspected movement in their neighbourhood to the security agencies in the state for immediate action.
