The Nigerian Air Force said it conducted a series of air strikes targeting terrorist locations in Kaduna State, despite weather challenges.
According to a statement released on Sunday by Edward Gabkwet, Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force, the Air Component of Operation Whirl Punch has continued its operations with significant success.
He noted that on July 12, 2024, air strikes were carried out on the enclave of terrorist Alhaji Layi in Kufan Shantu Village, Giwa Local Government Area (LGA).
“The strikes resulted in the elimination of several terrorists, the destruction of their thatched roof huts, and the demolition of their hidden logistics.

“Another set of air strikes on July 13, 2024, targeted terrorist camps within Malum Forest in Igabi LGA. Battle Damage Assessment footage showed terrorists freely loitering around a compound with zinc-roofed structures before a precision strike was executed, eliminating most of the terrorists present”, Gabkwet stated.
He further explained that these air strikes were based on credible Human Intelligence and thorough Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance operations. The targeted locations were identified as terrorist enclaves responsible for the ambush on troops at Manini on July 10, 2024.
“The Nigerian Air Force, in collaboration with ground forces, aims to maintain dominance in the region through continuous situational awareness, regular patrols, and targeted strikes against terrorist safe havens.
“This strategy is intended to eradicate terrorism and criminal activities in the Northwest and North Central regions of Nigeria”, Gabkwet stated.
