Owoade emerges new Alaafin of Oyo

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has approved Abimbola Akeem Owoade as the new Alaafin of Oyo.

Dotun Oyelade, commissioner for Information and Orientation in a statement said: “Prince Abimbola Akeem Owoade, after thorough consultations and divinations, has been recommended by the Oyomesi and approved by the Governor of Oyo State.

Oyelade said a statement to this effect has been issued by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ademola Ojo, adding that the announcement has put to rest all the socio and legal bickering that had ensued since the demise of Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III on April 22, 2022.

Ojo called on all citizens of Oyo State to join the government in celebrating this momentous occasion and lend their support to the new Alaafin of Oyo.

He prayed that his reign would bring peace, prosperity and unity to the historic Oyo Kingdom.

Akeem attended Baptist High School, Saki, before earning a National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from The Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, and a Higher National Diploma in the same field from The Polytechnic, Ibadan.

This strong educational background has honed his analytical and technical skills.

The newly approved Alaafin who will turn 50 this year career spans multiple continents.

He previously worked as a Planning Engineer at Oil Reach Company in Glasgow, UK, and currently serves as a Project Coordinator at Manitoba Hydro, Canada.

In addition, he is the president of 100279 Manitoba Limited, a company specialising in real estate and financial services while his leadership and business expertise are evident in his corporate achievements.
