Welcome to How I Spend It, where we’re particular about how young women (working and unemployed) spend their money. To help you grow financially, we want to use your stories to create awareness about spending. So we’re asking young women to keep a diary of how they spend every kobo.
This is a judgement free zone and selected submissions will be published anonymously. Whether you’re saving for a car, or a vacation to Obudu Cattle ranch, or helping your parents at home. We want to know all the details.
How do I submit to “How I Spend it?
Simple! Log your spending over seven days and report back to us all of the details. Keep in mind that all ‘How I Spend it” pieces are published to the site anonymously. We post your age, location, job, salary information, and daily diary entries but never your name or contact information. This information is only given to our Money Diary editors, who may reach out with questions.
Tips for tracking your spending:
Record the time of day, amount spent, and a little blurb about what you were thinking for every purchase. The more detail you provide, the better understanding we get of your day-to-day which is what makes ‘How I Spend It’ a more fun read.
We encourage you to record all meals (even if they are for free at work or home) and if you go grocery shopping during the week, include a list of everything you bought. Let us know if anything is going to be expensed (paid for by work).
