Ebonylife Cinemas became the highest-grossing cinema location in Anglo West Africa raking over N838 million in box office revenue. The cinema’s total admission was reported at over 138,000, a 5 percent market share contribution in the territory admissions.
The FilmOne 2024 Yearbook considers Ebonylife’s accomplishments notable given its status as an independent circuit with just one location. The cinema managed to outperform both Silverbird Ikeja and Filmhouse Lekki, despite those two locations typically admitting more moviegoers each year.
Filmhouse Cinemas with 12 sites across Anglo-West Africa ranked the highest in market share in the territory for the 7th year in a row with 28 percent grossing N3.2bn in box office revenue, this is the highest box office revenue by a cinema chain ever in the territory. FilmHouse is also the market leader in admissions with a 23 percent market share of the 2.6m admissions registered in the territory.
Silverbird(7 locations) and Genesis(9 locations) wrapped up the top 3 in the territory with 19 percent and 18 percent and grossing N2.2bn and N2.1bn respectively.
The report also reveals that 107 cinemas contributed to the Box Office with an addition of 6 cinema circuits in the territory in 2024. Nigeria had 102 of those cinema sites accounting for 92.9 percent of Anglophone West Africa box office over the review period.
