Olubunmi Osuntuyi: Secretary-General/Permanent Head of the International Chamber of Commerce Nigeria (ICC)

Olubunmi Osuntuyi is the Secretary-General/Permanent Head of the International Chamber of Commerce Nigeria (ICC).

ICC is the world business organisation, a representative body that speaks with authority on behalf of enterprises from all sectors in every part of the world. ICC was founded in Paris in 1919. Today, it groups hundreds of thousands of member companies and associations in over 120 countries.

Business experts drawn from the ICC membership establish the business stance on broad issues of trade and investment policy, as well as on a wide range of policy subjects of interest to companies worldwide.

National committees convey to their governments the business views formulated by ICC. The United Nations, the World Trade Organisation, the G20 and many other intergovernmental bodies are kept informed of international business views through ICC.

Olubunmi has her M.Sc in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management from the University of Lagos and a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) Hons in Sociology. Osuntuyi is an ICC certified trainer on International Contract Terms (Incoterms® 2010, a registered Trademark of ICC). She also has certificates in project management, from ENABLE (Enhancing Nigerian Advocacy for a Better Business Environment), ICC certificate of achievement in Mentor 600, online programme on Uniform Customs Practice (UCP 600) and Documentary Credits as well as Finance of International Trade certificate from the Institute of Export, UK. Furthermore, Olubunmi holds a certificate on Leadership Training on Ethics and Corporate Governance from the Robert Morris University, USA.

Osuntuyi’s pedigree in the private sector speaks eloquently of her commitment to best practices and good business ethics. Her work experience cuts across journalism, advertising, training, and capacity building.

Prior to now, she worked with the Institute of Directors Nigeria and IQ Limited as Head of Programmes and Training, and Chief Operating Officer respectively. She also had stints with the African Newspapers of Nigeria (Publishers of Nigerian Tribune) and Steve Racheal Advertising Limited. Her leadership and wide experience comes into play as she strategically charts the course of positioning the International Chamber of Commerce Nigeria beyond its present status.

A member of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON) and Society for Corporate Governance (SCG), Olubunmi represents ICC Nigeria on the Governing Council of Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA). In her various positions, she has coordinated several programmes, business fora and events both locally and internationally. She loves reading, writing, teaching and aerobics.

A seasoned administrator and media expert with over 20 years working experience with both public and private sector exposures, Osuntuyi, a thoroughly focused manager of both human and material resources is married with children.
