Hoodlums attack Ondo prison, free 58 inmates

No fewer than 58 inmates at the National Correctional Service Centre in Okitipupa, Ondo state were on Thursday released when some suspected hoodlums attacked the facility.

BusinessDay learnt that the hoodlums also burnt a vehicle in the process.

It was also gathered that several items were destroyed in the premises of the prison.

Ogundare Babatunde, the Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Command of NCS, confirmed the incident.

Meanwhile, some hoodlums have also set fire on the campaign office of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in Akure, the state capital.

BusinessDay observed in Ondo that angry residents have been damaging public buildings and those of persons they consider to be part of their problems after security operatives started attacking and killing peaceful protesters in many parts of the country.
