Kano donates N10m to Federal University, Dutse

Kano State government has donated N10 million to the Federal University Dutse for infrastructure development, Jibrilla Dahiru Amin, vice chancellor of the university, has said.

Amin made the disclosure in a speech at the maiden convocation and installation of Chancellor of the university on Saturday, saying the contribution assisted in solving some of the immediate challenges faced by the young institution.

The vice chancellor said            out of 200 students admitted in 2011, 71 had completed their studies perfectly with five of them graduating with first-class degrees.

In his speech, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State appreciated the quality courses offered by the university, describing the out-going vice chancellor, Amin, as a great manager of human and material resources who laid a solid foundation for sustainability of the university.

Ganduje urged the in-coming vice chancellor, Abubakar Musa Kundiri, to emulate and continue with what his predecessor started with a view of making the university one of the best in the country.

Turning to the graduating students, the governor called on them to be good ambassadors of the institute and to contribute their best in making Nigeria great again.

Earlier, the pro-chancellor, Toaheed Adedoja, a professor, led dignitaries in the installation of the university’s chancellor, Shekarau Angyu, who is also the chairman, Taraba State Council of Chiefs.

Meanwhile, Governor Ganduje has inspected a mosque being constructed by Ganduje Foundation at the premises of the university, and promised to complete the project soon and to provide the edifice with best finishing materials.
