… appeals for land donations to build more UTME centres
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has advised school owners interested in establishing accredited computer-based test (CBT) centres to visit the nearest office of the board for detailed information on the requirements and accreditation process.
This advisory came in response to a query from Patrick Foster on his official X handle (@_PatrickFoster, who inquired about the possibility of using his school as a JAMB CBT centre.
“Good day JAMB, I am a school owner looking at the possibility of using our school as a JAMB centre. What do we need to do?” he asked.
To answer this question, JAMB, through its official X handle, @JAMBHQ encouraged Foster and other interested school owners to visit any office of the board closest to them for guidance on the necessary procedures.

Moreover, JAMB outlined some conditions required for schools to become the board’s accredited CBT centres.
“To qualify as an accredited JAMB CBT centre, institutions must meet specific technical, infrastructural, and operational requirements set by the examination body. These typically include adequate computer systems with reliable internet connectivity.
“Uninterrupted power supply with backup systems, spacious and conducive examination halls. Surveillance, and security measures to prevent malpractices,” JAMB stated.
The board further stated that interested school owners should endeavour to comply with its operational guidelines. Besides, it reiterated that interested school owners and individuals looking to partner with the board should visit the nearest JAMB office for a comprehensive list of requirements and the application process.
Nevertheless, the board expressed its commitment to expanding CBT centres to increase and improve CBT centre infrastructure across Nigeria to enhance efficiency and accessibility for UTME candidates.
To achieve this goal, the board recently appealed to state governments for land donations to establish additional CBT centres, particularly in Lagos, where high candidate turnout demands more examination centres.
