2025 UTME All to know about registration, requirements, dates, fees

Proper information is ideal for preparing for the 2025 Joint Admission and Matriculation Examination (JAMB) which is a crucial step in securing university admission in Nigeria.

With the information on registration, requirements and examination details as outlined here by BusinessDay, prospective candidates can avoid last-minute issues or mistakes and have a smeamless application process.

Registration/ Fees:

The registration for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) orgainised by JAMB began on Monday, February 3, 2025, and is set to be concluded on Saturday, March 8, 2025.

The total cost for the 2025 UTME varies depending on whether a candidate is opting to take the mock examination.
The breakdown is as follows: UTME/DE application fee- ₦3,500, Reading Text,- ₦1,000, CBT centre registration service charge- ₦700, CBT Centre UTME service charge-₦1,500, CBT Mock service charge- ₦1,500, Bank charges- ₦500, CBT Mock-UTME centre service charge- ₦1,500.

Grand total could be N10,200 or N7,200 depending on whether the candidate is taking the mock examination or not.

For Direct Entry (DE) candidates, the total fee is ₦5,700, while mock trial testing for future candidates is ₦3, 500.

Requirements:

The requirements for the 2025 UTME registration include;

Candidates for 2025 UTME must ensure they have the following documents to enable them have a seamless registration process, such as a valid email address and an active phone number, a National Identification Number (NIN).

Besides, it is expected that all candidates should have their O’Level results. However, these results can be uploaded later if not available at the time of registration.

In addition, candidates must have their biometric data captured. This will be captured during registration at JAMB-accredited centres. Moreover, it is required that candidates must be at least 16 years old in the admission year.

How to register:

Candidates are to obtain their NIN:

This can be gotten from verified office of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) or their verified centres.

Then, create a JAMB profile, to do this; the candidate have to send his/her NIN via SMS to 55019 or 66019 in the format: NIN 12345678901.
he/she will receive a Profile Code on the phone number he/she use.
Then purchase the e-PIN; to purchase e-PIN, the candidate will visit any accredited bank, POS terminal, or use online platforms to buy the JAMB e-PIN using the Profile Code received.

Visit an Accredited CBT Centre:

With your e-PIN, proceed to an accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre to complete your registration.
Provide necessary personal information, choose your preferred institutions and courses, and have your biometric data captured.

Collect Essential Materials:

Upon successful registration, the candidate will receive a compulsory reading text and other relevant materials.

Examination dates:

The 2025 UTME is slated to take place from Friday, April 25, 2025, to Monday, May 5, 2025.

Candidates will be assigned specific dates within this period. Details regarding examination venues and times will be provided on the examination slips, which can be reprinted closer to the exam date.

The recommended reading text for the Use of English paper in the 2025 UTME is “The Lekki Headmaster” by Kabir Alabi Garba. This text is compulsory and will be provided to candidates during registration.
