SPAR Nigeria has opened its hypermarket store at Ilupeju, Lagos bringing the total number of its outlets in the country to nine.
In an elaborate opening ceremony attended by dignitaries including royal fathers, politicians and residents of Ilupeju, Maryland and environs, the Artee Group a licensed partner of the world’s largest chain of hypermarket welcomed customers to its newest store.
According to the brand’s Deputy Managing Director, Prakesh Keswani, “SPAR is for Nigeria and by Nigerians. All we do as a brand is to facilitate businesses that benefit all our host communities nationwide.”
Speaking after cutting the ribbon, High Chief Korede, Bisade Phillips, Onipeju of Ilupeju stated that Spar’s investment in Ilupeju will bring prosperity to the area. “It is a good development. We are happy because it is a place to reckon with.”
Prince Bayo Oshiyemi, Former chairman of Mushin Local Government, said the economy will benefit as more jobs will be created through the store. He also said that the store will cater for people who had to travel very long distances to access products in the past.
The new store comes with a product assortment of over 12,000 items, including fresh vegetables, hot meals, wine and spirits, mobile appliances, groceries, household appliances, cosmetics, furniture and so on.
“SPAR as a hypermarket brand, takes cognizance of the various kind of shopping missions and adapts its products and services in respect of choice, quality, service and value to translate the entire shopping experience into a world class one,” said Keswani.
SPAR intends to take this format for all the upcoming stores across Nigeria.
