The Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce (NBCC) has outlined leadership skills for businesses and also recognised Olufemi Awoyemi, founder and chairman of Proshare Limited, at its ‘Sharing Experience Series’ on Thursday.

The series is designed to provide a platform for accomplished leaders in the organised private sector to share their experience in the areas of entrepreneurship and professional careers fueled by passion, audacity, and innovation, according to Ray Atelly, president and chairman of the council of NBCC.

He said Awoyemi is a visionary who is driven and passionate about quality, excellence, and service. “He started Proshare from scratch and turned it into a reputable media organisation by international standards.”

On his part, Awoyemi said his motivation to start Proshare was the rejections he got when he shared his idea of what we now have as Proshare Nigeria.

“Our job is to understand what is happening and the impact of what is being announced on the news,” he added.

While encouraging young and promising entrepreneurs, Awoyemi emphasised that there was no conducive environment for many who gave that as a reason for not making a difference in society.

He urged young entrepreneurs to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. “You never get the best out of you and you settle for the usual when you are within your comfort zone.”
