CWAY taps Nigerian snacks market to boost expansion

CWAY Group, a foods and beverages company in Nigeria, has expanded its presence in the Nigerian market with substantial investment in the multimillion-dollar snacks market.

The Nigerian snack food industry, according to a report was valued at $883m in 2021, and “it is projected to reach $1.5bn by 2024, reflecting an estimated annual growth rate of 20 percent”, a media report said.

After extensive study of the market, the group recently entered with Wellcome Snacks which it described as a layered snack targeting all categories of Nigerians.

It is expected that its investment in this subsector will expand snack choices for consumers and provide jobs for Nigerians.

Speaking on the unveiling of the brand, according to a statement, Will Li, General Manager for Wellcome Nig Ltd, said that Wellcome Snacks is part of CWAY’s unrelenting commitment to innovation, customer satisfaction and exceeding expectations.

Reiterating the fact that Wellcome Snacks is crafted using advanced Japanese technology, he said, “The Wellcome snack’s tagline of “single crunch, triple delight,” is a promise of the unique taste and deliciousness that this brand promises.

Samuel Akinrimisi, AGM, Marketing – revealed that the brand targets Nigerians of all ages, particularly young adults aged 16-25 as its primary market, with a broader appeal to all chip snack consumers.

He also revealed that the product is available in various sizes catering to different consumer preferences and occasions. Falase Emmanuel, Brand, and Marketing Manager said the snacks, come in Spicy Chicken and Chocolate variants.
