Airtel to feed 6,000 Nigerians in ‘5 Days of Love’ initiative

Airtel Africa

Airtel Nigeria is poised to start the 2023 edition of its renowned community feeding program, ‘5 Days of Love’.

In a pledge to extend its commitment to giving back, the telecom firm unveiled its plan to provide meals for 6,000 underprivileged Nigerians across six states. This announcement came during a press conference held at the company’s headquarters Tuesday, December 12th, 2023.

Marking its 9th edition, the initiative aims to distribute packed meals over five days, benefiting 1000 individuals per state in Lagos, Rivers, Kano, Imo, Kwara, and Abuja. The beneficiaries will include children, women, youth, and the elderly, fostering a celebratory ambience during this festive season.

Speaking at the event, Femi Adeniran, Director of Corporate Communications and CSR, Airtel, shared insights during the press conference, emphasizing the broader significance of the ‘5 Days of Love’ campaign beyond meal distribution.

“The 5 Days of Love campaign is not just about distributing meals; it’s a platform for us to partake in the joy of the festive season with the communities we serve. We aim to create an electrifying atmosphere filled with joy, entertainment, and love. At Airtel, we believe in the impact of small acts of kindness, and that’s why we are committed to sharing and celebrating this season with our neighbors,” stated Adeniran.

Also, Ifeoma Okafor-Obi, Airtel Nigeria’s Director of Distribution, echoed the sentiment, highlighting Airtel’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of the less privileged amidst challenging times.

“Despite the prevailing challenges faced by families and organizations, Airtel remains steadfast in ensuring that the vulnerable in our society also experience the festive season’s joys. Our decision to feed 6000 Nigerians, compared to the usual 5000, reaffirms our commitment to being a caring company,” Okafor-Obi affirmed.

According to Airtel, this year’s campaign will commence on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, in Lagos, followed by Rivers and Kano states on December 14, and Imo state on December 15. The initiative will further extend its outreach to Kwara and Abuja on December 18 and 19, respectively.

The ‘5 Days of Love’ initiative, initially launched in 2015 across 10 orphanages in Nigeria, has expanded its reach to numerous towns and cities nationwide. Airtel collaborates with leading fast-food vendors to deliver meals and beverages to members of the public as part of this impactful campaign.
