In a significant move to foster innovation and enhance worker safety across Africa, the Africa Safety Award for Excellence (AfriSAFE) has launched the “AfriSAFE 2025 Safety Idea Capital.”

This initiative will connect aspiring entrepreneurs and innovators with experienced individuals, known as “Guardians,” who are prepared to invest up to $5,000 in exchange for equity to support their groundbreaking HSSE ideas.

Femi Da-silva, CEO of AfriSAFE, announced this initiative, underscoring the organisation’s commitment to driving HSE advancements in Africa. Entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to present their ideas prior to the AfriSAFE event scheduled for November in Mombasa, Kenya. Da-silva emphasised that the AfriSAFE Safety Idea Capital offers not only financial backing but also mentorship and strategic guidance to advance HSE innovations that will make roads, workplaces, and homes safer through new technologies.

Simultaneously, Da-silva declared the opening of nominations for the 7th edition of AfriSAFE 2025 sponsored by Seplat Energy, Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). Among others. This prestigious event will recognize and celebrate organizations and individuals demonstrating a verifiable commitment to the health, safety, environment, and well-being of their workplaces and communities.

The award ceremony, preceded by the Africa Safety Congress in collaboration with the Workplace Safety Professionals Association of Kenya, will be held on November 12-13 in Mombasa, Kenya.

AfriSAFE, now in its 7th year, is an annual initiative dedicated to raising HSSE awareness and fostering collaborations. It recognizes and celebrates contributions to creating safe and healthy workplaces. Both corporate organizations and individuals are encouraged to nominate deserving candidates and entities demonstrating exemplary safety and health practices.

AfriSAFE 2025 promises a stimulating networking and collaboration environment set against the backdrop of Kenya’s cultural heritage and natural attractions.

The event is endorsed and in partnership with relevant organisations including the Director of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, Kenya, Africa Vision Zero Network and the Alliance for Women in EHS, Ke.
