Privatisation council approves N1.3bn for ex-SAHCO workers

Speaking during its customer appreciation party where the company hosted clients, customers, and aviation industry stakeholders to appreciate them for their support, Taiwo Afolabi, chairman, SAHCO, said the company would improve its relationship with its customers with the provision of state-of-the-art faculties and excellent service delivery.

The event, themed: ‘A Night With SAHCO Plc’, which was held at Marriott Hotel, Lagos, SAHCO said it was an opportunity for its staff and customers to wine, dine and discuss more business.

In his welcome address, Afolabi, who was represented by his daughter, expressed delight with the performance of the company in the past year, despite the pandemic.

Afolabi noted that the annual appreciation night had become a platform to appreciate its esteemed clients for their huge contributions to the success of the company.

“This programme is also desired to rub minds with our key progress partners on how to grow our business and improve on our services.

”The last financial year came with a lot of challenges as occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic. Worst hit was the airline industry and our company was not insulated from its negative consequences.

“Measures developed by countries across the world to contain the deadly virus, including the partial and total lockdown, led to flight restrictions that brought global aviation on its knees.

“Key fallout of this include both job and financial losses by players in the industry. Despite these negative consequences, our company through the ingenuity of our brand and commitment of our management team and staff was about to record appreciable progress. The story of how we survived the turbulence of the last one year cannot be complete without you, our loyal and dependable clients.”

Also speaking at the event, Basil Agboarumi, managing director, SAHCO, reiterated that the evening was all about the clients.

“We tagged today a night with SAHCO Plc to say thank you and show appreciation for how you stood by us. We all know that the year 2020 was a difficult time for business, but you supported us and that is why we can be here today.

“We want to ensure that we maintain the terms of the contract we signed with our clients in line with international best practices.

“As a company, we are not resting our oars thinking we have arrived. We see ourselves as an organisation that continues to improve day by day to ensure that we continue to make our clients happy,” he said.

He further insisted that the company was dedicated to being the best at what it does.

Also present at the event was Chike Ogeah, the vice-chairman SAHCO, who presented the winning prize of two nights at the Lagos Marriott Hotel to the winner of the raffle draw segment, which took place during the event.

Also in attendance were Olaniyi Adigun, executive director, sales & marketing; Boma Ukwunna, executive director, operation & cargo services.

Organisations represented at the event included Air France/KLM, British Airways, Ibom Air, Africa World Airlines, Cote d Voire Air, Emirates Airlines, Dana Air, DHL, Arik Air, Middle East Airlines, and others

In their feedback, many of the clients in attendance commended SAHCO for its consistency in delivering quality services and ensuring professionalism in the discharge of its duties.
