Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) (1)

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has launched an investigation into a serious incident involving a Challenger 601-3R aircraft operated by Mattini Air.

The incident occurred during the morning hours of January 26, 2024, as the aircraft was en-route from Abuja to Ibadan.

According to reports, the aircraft, carrying 12 passengers and three crew members, overshot the runway while on final approach for landing at Runway 22 of Ibadan Airport. Fortunately, there were no fatalities, and all passengers and crew were safely evacuated.

In response to the incident, the NSIB has deployed a Go Team to conduct a thorough investigation.
Bimbo Olawunmi Oladeji, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at NSIB, emphasised the importance of public assistance in the investigation process.

She stated, “We want the public to know that we would be amenable to receiving any video clip, relevant evidence, or information any members of the public may have of the serious incident; that can assist us with this investigation.”

Furthermore, the NSIB urged the public and press to refrain from speculating on the cause of the incident until the formal report is released.

Oladeji stressed the need for privacy for those involved in the incident.

The Bureau has assured that the preliminary report will be released promptly as soon as the investigation progresses.

For further inquiries or to provide relevant information, the NSIB encourages individuals to contact their office directly.
