Osun presents N1.6bn bond certificates to pensioners

Osun state government on Tuesday presented bond certificates worth over N1.6 billion to 234 pensioners who participated in the Contributory Pension Scheme.

The Permanent Secretary, Local Government Staff Pension Bureau, Kayode Afolabi made the presentation on behalf of the state government at the Local Government Service Commission Multipurpose Hall.

Afolabi explained that, presentation was the fifth batch the state would do, saying while 137 pensioners were drawn from primary school, while 97 beneficiaries were also drawn from Local Government Service.

He assured retirees in the state that bond presentations will be continuous exercise, subject to availability of fund, adding that no pensioner would be short-changed.

He further admonished beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money given them, while s warning against investment in business they are not familiar with.

Earlier before the presentation of the retirement bond certificates to beneficiaries, there was a seminar for retirees on the best way to manage their pay.

In his response, one of the beneficiaries, Mukaila Adedeji commended Governor Rauf Aregbesola for the kind gesture towards the retirees, assuring him of their continued support and cooperation.
