The second generation of the Audi Q7 will be introduced in late 2015 as the popular SUV will be riding on a new platform and get new technologies and engines onto it.

The 2016 Audi Q7 is getting closer and closer to its future customers and while some of its main competitors such as the BMW X5 has already received a new generation, the model in question will still have to wait until the end of 2015 in order to receive some significant updates. According to reports, the future Q7 generation will be riding on the MLB Evo platform, which is the second-gen of the MLB.

This is significantly lighter than its predecessor and it will be joined in by a new engine line-up, which will be developed with Porsche engineers, so customers might expect some “green” versions, such as hybrids, to become available.

The outgoing model is currently assembled in Slovakia and in India and it has been in production since 2006. It’s being offered in a five-door SUV body style, with a longitudinal front engine and a Quattro permanent all-wheel drive. Engine line-up includes a 3.0, 3.6 and a 4.2-litre petrol burner and a 3.0, 4.2 and 6.0-litre diesel versions respectively.
