What to know about Telegram Ad revenue

Telegram nears profitability, eyes IPO

Telegram, the popular messaging platform, has unveiled plans to launch an advertising platform in March 2024, allowing channel owners to receive financial rewards for their content.

Pavel Durov, the chief executive officer and founder of Telegram, recently announced this via his Telegram channel.

Durov said the company will utilise Toncoin on the TON blockchain to distribute rewards to channel owners. Telegram channel owners will begin to receive 50 percent of all revenue generated from displaying ads on their channels.

Telegram channels serve as a platform for users to broadcast public messages to large audiences. The CEO highlighted that while these broadcast channels amass one trillion views monthly, only 10 percent are monetised using Telegram Ads, the platform’s promotion tool.

Durov said, “Next month, channel owners on Telegram can start receiving financial rewards for their work. Broadcast channels on Telegram generate 1 trillion views monthly. Currently, only 10 percent of these views are monetized with Telegram Ads — a promotion tool designed with privacy in mind.

“In March, the Telegram Ad Platform will officially open to all advertisers in nearly a hundred new countries. Channel owners in these countries will start receiving 50 percent of any revenue that Telegram makes from displaying ads in their channels.”
