Lori Systems, a startup based in Nairobi, Kenya has emerged overall winner of the first ever TechCrunch Startup Battlefield Africa, securing a $25,000 cash prize and an all-expense paid trip for two to San Francisco to take part in the Disrupt SF 2018.
The startup which provides online logistics platform that improves cargo transportation in Kenya, shrugged off competition from 14 start-ups to emerge winner of the Best of Show and the productivity and utility category.
Two Ghanaian startups AgroCenta and Syncommerce also won the Social good category and gaming and entertainment category respectively.
AgroCenta is a startup that helps more than 8,000 farmers improve the agricultural value chain while Syncommerce is working on the perfect service for e-merchants by letting businesses in the segment list their products on Shopify, eBay, Etsy and soon BigCommerce and Amazon.
Nigerian startups that participated in the battlefield include ed-tech platform, Dotlearn; data service firm, Delivery Science; and form builder and cloud storage service provider FormPlusApp.
