Ibadan emerges as hub for innovation, entrepreneurship at ISF 2023

Ibadan’s growing population, a stimulant for modern retail penetration in Nigeria

The Ibadan Startup Fest (ISF) which concluded its 2023 three-day event, has been hailed as the city’s largest annual gathering for entrepreneurs, investors, founders, and innovators.

On the first day, the festival set a positive tone with 20 startups taking the stage to pitch their ideas. The day was filled with pitches, discussions, and insightful presentations as innovative minds sought support and recognition from a discerning panel of judges.

Day 2 unfolded at Manhattan Hall with a focus on networking, brand showcases, and a stimulating job fair. Going beyond the exchange of ideas, the day aimed at nurturing talent, fostering connections, and laying the groundwork for growth within Ibadan’s thriving tech community.

The grand finale on Day 3 featured industry experts, including a keynote address by Iyinoluwa Aboyeji, alongside professionals such as Temidayo Oniosun, Satoshi Shinada, Ojimaojo Udale-Ameh, Mohammed-Bashir Yunusa, and others. The day was marked by interactive sessions, covering a spectrum of topics from pitch presentations to networking, panel discussions, brand showcases, and bustling exhibition booths.

According to a statement by the organisers, the event explored innovation, with booths from headline sponsor The Alternative Bank to Touch and Pay Technologies Ltd (YC W22), Cardify Africa, Heyfood, Kolomoni, Periculum, Smartcomply, Zeeh Africa, Scoolyn, Lumen Technologies, Daxlinks Global LTD, Google, and various other sponsors and partners.

“The success of ISF 2023 was not a solitary achievement but a collaborative effort, with contributions from partners like The Alternative Bank, Google, Technext, BusinessDay, Consonance Club, alx_africa Sand Technologies, and others. Their contributions elevated the grandeur of the event, emphasising the collective commitment to fostering growth and collaboration within Ibadan’s tech ecosystem,” it reads.

In addition, the festival was not merely a showcase; it marked a significant milestone in Ibadan’s tech journey, a chapter destined to resonate through its entrepreneurial history.
