FirstMobile beats competitors as app with most star rating

First Bank’s mobile application FirstMobile has the highest star rating with 4.3 star from 12,437 customer reviews on the Google Play Store, according to a BusinessDay survey of seventeen commercial banks in Nigeria.

 

HB Padie by Heritage Bank with 4.5 star would have taking the first position however the app has only been reviewed by 436. Diamond Bank’s mVISA App also had 4.8 star rating but was only from 20 reviews.

 

Zenith Bank Mobile App and Union Mobile by Union Bank also garnered 4.3 star ratings but with from fewer reviews than First Money. Zenith Bank’s app was reviewed by 6,140 while Union Mobile was reviewed by 571 people.

 

FirstMobile also joins the ranks of GTBank and Diamond Bank as apps with the highest downloads on the Google Play Store. Each of the apps has been downloaded over a million times.

 

Access Bank, Zenith Bank and UBA are second on the download category with over 500,000.

 

Why it matters

Positive or negative user feedback plays an important in how potential customers deal with an application (app) while on any digital store – be it Google or Apple. A positive user feedback for instance can lead to app store optimisation.

 

App store optimisation is the process of optimising an application in order to maximise its visibility in the Apple App Store, Google Play Store or other markets in Search (when users search on the app stores), Top Charts, and Featured, boost traffic to listing and improve conversation rate to generate the maximum volume of organic downloads (source: TheTool).

 

Ratings can enable a company drive rankings, visibility, updates and in-app purchases. It is an integral part of the ranking algorithm for app searches in both the App Store and the Play Store.
