Ride-hailing company Bolt has launched a nationwide driver rewards campaign aimed at recognising outstanding driver-partners for their dedication, professionalism and quality service, as the company strengthens efforts to improve driver welfare across Nigeria.
The campaign has already been held in Lagos and Calabar, where selected drivers received household appliances and other gifts, including televisions, refrigerators and air conditioners. Bolt said the initiative will continue in Abuja, Port Harcourt, Uyo, Benin and Ibadan in the coming weeks, with a total of 50 drivers expected to benefit.
The rewards programme is part of Bolt’s broader strategy to appreciate driver-partners who play a key role in providing reliable transportation services to millions of Nigerians every day.

Speaking on the initiative, Teddy Appah-Dankyi, Bolt’s senior general manager for West Africa, said drivers remain central to the company’s success and deserve recognition for their commitment and hard work.
“Our drivers are the backbone of the platform. Every day, they help people get to work, connect with opportunities, and move around their cities safely and conveniently. This campaign is our way of recognising and celebrating their hard work and dedication,” he said.
According to Bolt, beneficiaries were selected based on key performance indicators such as activity levels, service quality and overall contribution to the platform.
The company noted that the rewards go beyond simple recognition, providing practical support that can improve the quality of life of drivers and their families. Some recipients expressed gratitude for the gifts, describing the household appliances as valuable assistance amid current economic challenges.
Industry observers say such initiatives are becoming increasingly important in Nigeria’s ride-hailing sector, where driver retention, motivation and service quality remain critical factors for growth and customer satisfaction.
Beyond the rewards campaign, Bolt said it continues to invest in programmes that support driver-partners. These include access to discounted health insurance, safety training initiatives and engagement programmes designed to improve the overall driver experience.
The company added that the campaign reflects its commitment to creating opportunities for drivers that extend beyond income earned from trips, while also strengthening relationships with partners across its network.

Notably, the campaign is being conducted simultaneously across six cities, demonstrating Bolt’s intention to ensure recognition efforts reach drivers outside major commercial centres such as Lagos and Abuja.
The initiative comes at a time when competition among ride-hailing platforms is intensifying, with companies increasingly focusing on driver welfare, incentives and support programmes as a way to maintain service quality and build loyalty among drivers.
For Bolt, the latest campaign highlights a growing recognition that drivers are not only service providers but also critical stakeholders in the long-term sustainability and success of the platform.
