10 powerful WhatsApp features you should know

New WhatsApp features: How to create no-name groups, send pictures with quality intact

WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps in the world. But did you know that there are a number of new features that you might not be aware of?

The new features make WhatsApp so powerful that it may soon begin to rival popular Zoom app.

Here are WhatsApp features you probably didn’t know about:

1. Screen sharing during video calls: The screen sharing feature allows users to share their screens during live video calls, which is a useful way to share presentations or documents with others.

2. Chat Edit: WhatsApp rolled out this feature in May 2023, this update allows you to edit a message after it’s been sent, so users can correct typos or rephrase sentences. Note: WhatsApp messages can only be edited within 15 minutes of sending.

3. Chat Lock: WhatsApp now lets you password protect your most personal chats. To do this, simply turn on the Chat Lock feature on your Android or iPhone. When Chat Lock is enabled, you’ll need to use your device authentication, such as your phone passcode, Face ID, or fingerprint, to unlock your chats before you can read or send messages. Your locked chats will be kept separate from your other chats in a Locked chats folder.

4. Voice WhatsApp status updates: You can now set voice messages as your WhatsApp status updates! This is a great way to share your thoughts and feelings with your contacts, without having to type anything.

5. Expanded Group Call Capacity: With the expanded group call capacity, you can stay connected with up to 32 people at the same time. This is great for families, friends, and businesses that need to communicate with large groups of people.

6. Disappearing Messages: This attribute will make any new messages in a chat disappear after a specified period of time.

7. View once photos/videos: It is now possible to send an image or video that disappears once the recipient has viewed it once.

8. Stop images and video from appearing in your gallery: Sharing photos and video on WhatsApp is great, but you might not want it added to your phone’s gallery.

9. Whatsapp on multiple phones: It’s now possible to have WhatsApp running on multiple phones. This feature allows you to have a primary phone and a secondary phone both offering up your WhatsApp chats, allowing you to send and receive from either device.

10. Save your data usage: If you’ve got a limited data allowance, you don’t want WhatsApp munching it all away. Thankfully, you can customise when media is allowed to download, as well as ensure calls use as little data as possible.

These are just a few of the new features that WhatsApp has added in recent months. With more features being added all the time, it’s worth checking back regularly to see what’s new.
