Napoli has reportedly rejected a €65 million bid from Galatasaray for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.
The Turkish giants offered a substantial sum for a permanent transfer, but Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis declined, preferring to wait until the summer transfer window.
Galatasaray’s bid falls €10 million short of Osimhen’s €75 million release clause, which is valid for the January window. While the Turkish club attempted to negotiate a lower fee, Napoli remained firm on their valuation, knowing that from June onwards, the €75 million clause would apply to all interested clubs.
At 26, Osimhen remains one of the most sought-after strikers in European football. Napoli had previously set his release clause at €130 million but reduced it last summer when he signed a new deal before joining Galatasaray on loan.
Interestingly, only Galatasaray had the exclusive right to sign Osimhen for €75 million in January. Any other club would have had to pay €81 million, with €6 million going to Galatasaray as compensation. Starting this summer, the €75 million release clause will be available to all foreign clubs, while Italian teams must negotiate directly with Napoli.
Napoli have also included an option to extend Osimhen’s contract from 2026 to 2027, giving them additional leverage in negotiations. With the club spending over €150 million on signings last summer despite missing out on Champions League revenue, they are keen to maximize Osimhen’s sale.
The Nigerian striker is currently on loan at Galatasaray until the end of the season, but the Turkish club do not hold an option to make the move permanent. Napoli’s stance suggests they are waiting for a better offer in the summer, with Osimhen’s future set to be one of the major talking points in the next transfer window.
