Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is reportedly prepared to offer Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) a slight discount on Victor Osimhen‘s €130m release clause.
The Partenopei are looking to sell the Nigerian striker this summer to fund new signings for Antonio Conte’s project. However, no club has matched his €130m release clause, delaying their pursuit of Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku.
Osimhen had hoped for a Premier League move, but no English club has met De Laurentiis’ €130m demand. PSG are searching for a new striker after Kylian Mbappe’s sale to Real Madrid and have shown interest in signing Osimhen.
According to Corriere dello Sport De Laurentiis is willing to offer PSG a minor discount on Osimhen’s release clause to facilitate a deal with the Parisans, who are keen to secure the Super Eagles striker.
“PSG initially attempted to acquire Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia for €200 million. Considering Kvaratskhelia’s valuation at €110 million, PSG was effectively offering €90 million for Osimhen” as quoted by Corriere dello Sport.
“De Laurentiis has no intention of straying too far from the established parameters: the French club does not want to cover the clause in full and is asking for a discount, and although ADL is open to negotiating, his idea is to stay close to the escape value.”
While De Laurentiis is open to negotiation, he aims to stay close to the established release clause value.
Recently, Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, travelled to France to negotiate. Osimhen has reportedly agreed to a five-year contract with PSG worth approximately €14m net per season.
Napoli, 2023 Serie A Champions are eager to finalise the sale since they have stated Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will not be sold. The Partenopei aim to secure Lukaku once Osimhen is sold.
