Nigerians have taken to social media to react to Nike’s newly unveiled Super Eagles home and away jerseys.

The launch of the kits comes after a disappointing period in which Nigeria failed to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, an issue that dominated fan reactions.

The new home jersey features a light green base with darker green side panels and a dotted gradient pattern, while the away kit adopts a white base with bold green flame-inspired designs across the front, back, and sleeves.

While the designs aim for a modern aesthetic, many fans have struggled to separate the unveiling from the team’s recent setbacks, branding the release “unnecessary” and “substandard.”

Reaction from the Nigerian football community was swift and largely critical.

@salmsyn wrote: “Na Gen Z dey design our recent Super Eagles jersey, all this unnecessary artwork no dey win trophies. It screams inter-house sport jersey.”

@Cameraman Austin added: “These jerseys don’t look like they were made for the pitch—they look like they were made for fashion.”

@abuagoody posted: “This should be a training kit, not the actual kit. Substandard, zero quality, terrible jersey.”

Beyond design concerns, many fans expressed frustration over timing, questioning the relevance of new kits without World Cup participation.

@Johnzacheus77 said, “Very beautiful kit, unfortunately, we will not see this at the 2026 World Cup. Really painful.”

@izzyflowfilmz added: “Una just dey release kits without World Cup… mtcheww.”

@Naj33m_ noted: “Money has to be made from sales. Plus, we no dey go World Cup, so na for fashion.”
