Fans send emotional farewell messages as Klopp announces Liverpool exit

Reactions have trailed the shocking announcement of Jurgen Klopp leaving Liverpool at the end of the 2023/24 season after nine years at Anfield.

Klopp announced he is leaving Liverpool in a shock statement made to the Reds’ official channels on Friday morning, the 56-year-old German revealed he made his decision late last year and informed the club in November.

“I told the club already in November that I’m leaving at the end of the season, ” Klopp said.

“I’m running out of energy, that’s the truth”.

“I love absolutely everything about this club and #LFC but I know that I cannot do the job again and again and again and again”

This news comes as a big blow especially to millions of Liverpool fans as Klopp 2022 signed a contract extension with the club to remain at Anfield until 2026.

Klopp, 54, joined the Reds in 2015, but suggested in March that he would follow through with a plan to take a break from the game when his deal ended in 2024.

When explaining his decision, he stated that he was simply “running out of energy”.
“I can understand that it’s a shock for a lot of people at this moment when you hear it for the first time, but obviously I can explain it – or at least try to explain it.

“I love absolutely everything about this club, I love everything about the city, I love everything about our supporters, I love the team, I love the staff. I love everything. But that I still take this decision shows you that I am convinced it is the one I have to take.

Fisayo Soyombo @fisayosoyombo, a staunch Liverpool fan for decades could not control his emotions, noting that he was shocked to hear that Klopp is leaving Liverpool.

“Devastated to learn of Jurgen Klopp’s impending Liverpool exit. The greatest manager in football history is leaving the club that was tailor-made for him. Nothing lasts forever, not even this match made in heaven.
It’s my saddest day in 19 years of following this club.”

Also reaction to Klopp’s announcement, Jamie Carragher former Liverpool player and captain posted on his X handle @Carra23 that it was the biggest blow for the club

“This news was always going to be a body blow to the club whenever it came. I just thought it would be another few years away. What a manager, what a man, let’s go out with a bang Jurgen!”

Klopp has won six trophies with the club, including the Premier League title in 2020 and the Champions League trophy the year before.

Liverpool currently top the Premier League and reached the Carabao Cup final in midweek, while they are still in the Europa League and the FA Cup.

@jackoduinn1735 also said: “I’ve never felt so upset, what an absolutely amazing man. He’s put in so much work and effort into this club and we will never forget everything Klopp has done and accomplished for this club. A true legend of the sport.”

James Ingram @jamesingram9374 added: “This man will be forever in our hearts for what he has done for our club on behalf of every Liverpool fan we thank you for everything.”

Many Premier League fans were also surprised that Klopp despite his massive achievements with the club, Klopp is leaving the Reds by June 2024.

“As one of the biggest Chelsea fans going, you can be rest assured that even I’ll miss him. Thank you for your service to this beautiful league, Jurgen..” @Mr.LevelUp said.

Another Manchester United fan @_itsd3v_also sent his heartfelt farewell message to the German tactician who transformed Liverpool football club and made the Premier League more competitive.

“Legend. Even as a Man United fan, I’ll miss him. He transformed our biggest rivals and handed us our biggest and most embarrassing defeats. His dedication and personality are admirable. Liverpool were a joy to watch under him. You’ll be missed, Jurgen.”
