A Federal Capital Territory High Court in Apo, Abuja, has ordered the final forfeiture of assets valued at about N8.9 billion and linked to businesswoman Aisha Achimugu to the Federal Government.

The forfeited assets comprise jewellery worth N4.65 billion, 11 exotic vehicles valued at N4.29 billion, $50,000, and N30 million in cash.

Justice Jude Onwugbuzie issued the order on Thursday while ruling on an application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) seeking the permanent forfeiture of the assets.

The commission had approached the court, arguing that the properties were connected to alleged unlawful activities and should be permanently forfeited to the Federal Government.

Granting the application, the court directed that the identified assets, including the luxury vehicles, jewellery, and cash, be transferred to the Federal Government.

The ruling represents another major asset recovery action by the EFCC as part of its efforts to recover properties suspected to have been acquired through proceeds of unlawful activities.
