Alexander Isak has been included in the Liverpool squad for Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
The 26-year-old Swedish international returns after a lengthy injury layoff, having struggled with recurring fitness issues since his British record move from Newcastle United last year.
Isak has made just 16 appearances for Liverpool, with his season disrupted further in December when he suffered an ankle injury following a challenge by Micky van de Ven during a 2–1 win over Tottenham Hotspur. The injury required surgery and sidelined him for 15 weeks.
After returning to group training last Thursday, the 26-year-old trained with teammates again on Tuesday before travelling to Paris.
“Alexander Isak is among the players that departed John Lennon Airport for Paris this afternoon, ahead of Wednesday night’s quarter-final first leg at Parc des Princes,” Liverpool confirmed on their official website.
His return is a timely boost for manager Arne Slot, whose side has struggled in recent weeks.
Pressure has intensified following a heavy 4–0 defeat to Manchester City in the FA Cup quarter-finals, leaving Liverpool fifth in the Premier League and with the Champions League as their only remaining route to silverware this season.
Liverpool will also be seeking redemption against PSG, who knocked them out on penalties in the round of 16 in 2025.
