The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has secured a lucrative three-year sponsorship extension with French energy giant TotalEnergies worth $1.125 billion until 2028.
According to reports, the new deal, worth $375 million per year, was finalised after the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) draw in Rabat, Morocco.
CAF President Patrice Motsepe and TotalEnergies Chairman and CEO Patrick Pouyanné officially agreed, marking a significant financial boost for African football.
Motsepe highlighted that the new deal represents a substantial increase from the previous $250 million agreement, which covered eight years.
Covers 12 major competitions
Under the extended partnership, TotalEnergies will sponsor 12 major CAF tournaments and competitions between 2025 and 2028.
These include the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2024, TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025, and TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda 2027, among others.
Additionally, TotalEnergies is expanding its support by becoming a key partner of the CAF African Schools Football Championship in 2025, reinforcing its commitment to grassroots football development across the continent.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Patrick Pouyanné stated: “Since 2016, TotalEnergies has been honoured to shine a spotlight on African football, and we are thrilled to continue this collaboration with CAF for the next four years..”
CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe added: “CAF is excited to continue working with TotalEnergies and its Chairman Patrick Pouyanné, whom I have known and respected for many years.
“This partnership plays a vital role in enhancing the competitiveness of African football while also supporting youth development programs like the African Schools Football Championship, which has already engaged around 800,000 young players.”
